Ethiopia was invaded by Italy starting in 1935, and on 5th May 1936 the capital, Addis Ababa, was captured. On the 22nd May three new stamps showing the King were issued. On 1st June 1936 Ethiopia was joined with Eritrea and Italian Somalia into Italian East Africa. Four further values inscribed ETIOPIA were issued on 5th December 1936, six months later.
