1949 Biennial Art Festival, Venice

Four stamps were issued on 12th April 1949 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Biennial Art festival held in Venice.

There are two printings of two of the values. The 5 lire shows a difference in position of the imprint below the design, while the 20 lire was significantly re-engraved.

5 lire. Left: first printing; Right: second printing Sassone 594

20 lire. Left: first printing; Right: second printing Sassone 596

The 15 lire also shows differences in the position of the imprint, but this is not recognised in the specialist catalogues.
