A set of stamps was issued to celebrate the fact that Italy hosted the second ever World Cup in 1934. In fact, they won the tournament, beating Czechoslovakia 2-1 in the final after extra time.

Normal stamps were issued in denominations of 20c, 25c, 50c, 1.25 lire and 5 lire, the latter having a supplement of 2.50 lire. Air mail stamps were issued in denominations of 50c, 75c, 5+2.50 lire and 10+5 lire. The three high values are all scarce in used condition.
